Eating Worms to Lose Weight?

We all know how much of a problem obesity is and that there seems to be more and more pressure to lose weight in order to look beautiful. As a result you might be prepared to do just about anything in order to shed a few extra pounds. One of the weirdest ways to lose weight is ingesting worms.

Yes it’s true. Apparently people in Hong Kong who are so eager to lose weight are eating a type of giant intestinal roundworms named Ascaris worms.

The idea behind this is that the worms will live in your gut and use the food you eat to thrive. Basically it means you’re competing with the worms for calories. The more calories they consume, the easier it is to lose weight.

Usually people who end up with these worms do so through contaminated food or water. Normally this happens in third world countries where hygiene is a problem.

These worms can grow to a whopping 40 cm in your body and each day can lay more and more eggs. So before you go asking “where can I buy these worms?” let’s have a look at some of the horrible side-effects:-

  • Malnutrition
  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal pain
  • Lung invasion
  • Pancreatic duct obstruction

The scary thing is that the last two problems can actually be life-threatening. So it’s certainly a high price to pay just to lose a few vanity pounds.

It’s not just calories that these worms consume. They also consume much-needed nutrients such as vitamins and minerals. This can result in serious malnutrition. In addition to this, they’ll also leave behind horrible toxins that your body will struggle to get rid of.

If for you then want to get rid of them you’ll find it quite tricky. There are special anti-parasitic medicines that can be used and some herbs are said to be able to do the job.

Using parasitic worms for weight loss has become so popular in Hong Kong that the government has had to issue a number of warnings about it. This isn’t a proven weight loss method and the disadvantages far outweigh any advantages you may receive.

If you’ve been thinking of buying worm eggs in order to lose weight, please forget this idea. It’s simply too harmful to your health. Besides, there are so many other healthy ways to lose weight such as eating fruit and vegetables, exercising and even using fat burning pills such as Phen375.
